According to the footage, a flight from San Francisco International Airport to Florida was interrupted when former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson punched a fellow passenger. The incident was initially documented by TMZ.
Tyson is seen bending over his seat in the footage, repeatedly punching the unnamed guy in the head. Another individual attempts to shove Tyson away from the guy. The pounding is brief.
According to Tyson’s representatives, “Unfortunately, Mr. Tyson had an issue on a flight with an angry passenger who started harassing him and hurling a water bottle at him while he was seated.”
According to TMZ, Tyson consented to snap a selfie with the passenger before to the attack. However, despite Tyson’s efforts to “relax,” the “overly enthusiastic” guy continued to disturb the former boxer throughout the trip.
The passenger’s forehead looks to be bleeding as a consequence of the strikes in the footage.
Tyson became the world’s youngest heavyweight champion in 1987, at the age of 20. He rose to prominence as one of the sport’s most beloved fighters — but not without controversy and unfavourable press.
Tyson was convicted of rape in 1992 and sentenced to three years in jail. Tyson has repeatedly defended himself against the claim.
And in 1997, he was disqualified from a bout after chewing a piece of Evander Holyfield’s ear.
Tyson said in a 2017 interview with NPR that he is a different guy who avoids contact with people.
“”My life is my family life,” he said at the time. “I have no other life.” That’s over; I don’t have a nightlife.”
