Britney Spears, 40, confirmed her pregnancy on Instagram Monday.
Spears said in her article that she began gaining weight immediately after a vacation to Maui with her fiancé, Sam Asghari. “So I took a pregnancy test… and uhhhhh well… I am pregnant,” she wrote.
The pop star’s pregnancy announcement comes only months after a court terminated her 13-year conservatorship after a highly publicised legal struggle with her father. As a result of this agreement, Spears had very limited control over her life and the choices she could make – including those regarding her job, income, and health. In 2008, the singer was put under her conservatorship due to mental health difficulties.
Last June, she revealed in explosive evidence before a Los Angeles Superior Court judge that she desired another child but was compelled to maintain an IUD due to her conservatorship.
Spears already has two sons from her former marriage to Kevin Federline: Sean Preston Federline, 16, and Jayden James Federline, 15.
Spears stated Monday that she would spend less time out in public to avoid photographers and that she suffered from perinatal depression throughout her previous pregnancies.
She concluded her article with an optimistic statement, stating, “This time, I’m going to practise yoga every day!!! Distributing a great deal of pleasure and love!!!”
