Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Wednesday announced that all the standards can resume physical classes from 1st November. This decision has been done by Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) after a consistent drop in the Covid cases.

The positivity rate in Delhi is 0.06%. This has remained lost for quite some time now.

Mr. Sisodia who is also the education minister of the state said that the suspension of the classes has affected the overall growth of the children. The education would still continue in a hybrid mode. Meanwhile the schools would be allowed to function with not more than 50 percent capacity of the students and the teachers have to be vaccinated fully as well.

“No parent will be forced to send their children to schools. Online classes will continue” said Sisodia. The schools have been shut across the country since March last year. The schools opened briefly in Delhi in January and February but were shut again due to the onset of the second wave. The physical classes had resumed for classes 9th – 12th from 1st September onwards with strict Covid protocols.

There have been concerns about a possible third wave as India is observing festivities at present. Over these concerns he said that “If the situation turns bad, schools can always go back to online mode”

India has administered 104 crore vaccine doses till now. Soon the vaccines for children would be rolled out in the market and the situation would be safe for children as well.
