Omicron cases in India cross the 200 mark

The new strain is spreading faster than the previous strains reported in India. The total number of Omicron cases detected in India has crossed the 200 mark. The Union Health Ministry has confirmed today.

The Ministry further said that 77 patients have either recovered or have migrated.

Maharashtra and Delhi have been the top contributors. Odisha also reported two cases of omicron today, adding it to the list of states that have reported the cases so far. Most of the patients in the country were asymptomatic or showed mild symptoms.

The fresh Covid cases reported in the country today are 5,326. While the death toll is a little high, 453 deaths were reported in the past 24 hours. Omicron has been spreading very fast. It has become the major strain causing infections in London and Scotland. The cases are rising in the United States as well.

Health Minister has assured that the country is prepared to tackle with the new scare. Medicines and oxygen has already been stocked up. 48,000 ventilators have been distributed to the states as well.
