India vaccines now to be recognised by 96 nations

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandviya issued a statement that India and 96 other countries have decided to mutually accept Covid 19 vaccination

The government statement said that “At present 96 countries have agreed to mutual recognition of vaccination certificates and also those countries that recognise Indian vaccination certificates of travellers fully vaccinated with Covishield/WHO approved /nationally approved Covid vaccines”.

The statement further said that “Ministry of Health and Family Welfare along with the Ministry of External Affairs is in continuous communication with all the countries for mutual recognition of the vaccine certificate to facilitate hassle-free international travel across the countries

This move will ease the travel of fully vaccinated Indians to various parts of the world. Mr. Mandviya said that “WHO has included eight vaccines in EUL (Emergency use listing) so far. We are happy two out of these are Indian vaccines – Covaxin and Covishield. Ninety six countries have recognised these vaccines”. Canada, US, UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Russia, Australia and Switzerland are amongst the nations that have accepted the vaccine.

United Kingdom recently added Covaxin to the list of accepted Covid vaccines from 22nd November.
