India signs a $300million loan with Asian Development Bank to improve primary health care in the country

The project that been signed by the Government of India and the Asian development Bank is aimed to improve the primary health care in urban areas. This project would benefit over 256 million people across 13 states including 51 million people from the slum areas.

The official statement releases by Ministry of Finance “Rajat Kumar Mishra, Additional Secretary Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance , signed for the GOI the agreement for the StrengtheningComphrehensive primary Health care and pandemic preparedness in Urban areas Program while Takeo Konishi, Country Director of ADB”S India resident mission signed for ADB

Rajat Kumar Mishra said that “The program supports the Government of India’s key health initiatives –Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centres (AB-HWC) and Pradhan Mantri Atmanirbhar Swasth Bharat Yojna (PM-ASBY) which has been renamed as Pradhan mantra Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission (PM-ABHIM) by expanding availability and access to quality primary health care services particularly for vulnerable populations in urban areas.”

This move would help boost the health care system after the pandemic and will also prepare India for future emergencies.
