There were 10,929 new cases reported on 6th November. This is the lowest number in the last 9 months, according to an update by the Health Ministry. The active case load was just 0.43% of the total caseload.

On 25th January 2021, the case had slipped below 10,000. The low number was recorded on 1st and 8th February. After that India witnessed a massive second wave and we even crossed 4 lakh cases every day. The low number could be due to the festival season, when people do not come frequently for tests. But, India has been witnessing a low caseload every day since a few days now.

The states that recorded maximum number of cases were

Kerala (6580)

Tamil Nadu (875)

Maharashtra (802)

West Bengal (763)

Mizoram (513)

However the low cases do not specifically signify that the pandemic is over. There was a complete reversal of the situation in February and March. A ray of hope is that India has administered 1.08 Billion doses in total and hopefully we may not witness a third wave. Experts suggest that we should still not let our guard down and observe all the necessary precautions
