How to protect children from Omicron infections

While many countries have started administering Covid vaccine to children, the Government of India has yet not made any decision public about the vaccination of the children. A study shows that Omicron can infect children and unvaccinated more.

Many schools have also reopened in many parts of the country. This makes children more susceptible to getting infected .So it becomes important that we take care of the children during this situation:

  • Follow the protocols: With the cases going down since a past few days, many of us have let our guards. With the new variant scare, it’s important that we advise our children to follow all the protocols like wearing a mask and social distancing.
  • Tell children to frequently wash their hands.
  • With the changing weather children are more prone to seasonal flu. Cover them properly so that their immunity is not weakened by any infections.
  • Make sure they eat healthy to stay healthy. Try to include fresh foods and vegetables and regulate their junk intake.
  • Do not travel abroad with children.
  • Engage them in physical activities to keep them fit.
  • Make sure they are vaccinated with their flu vaccine.
  • If you have to attend a social gathering, avoid taking your children along with you.
  • If any of their peers has any symptoms, tell your child to report to you.
  • Disinfect the surfaces and the stuff that you get from the market.
  • If your child shows symptoms like sore throat, sluggishness, fever etc , consult a doctor
