DELTA PLUS VARIANT OF COVID-19, A WARNING

511

We have been struggling with Delta Variant which has become the main cause of the second wave of Covid pandemic in India. The most destructive new variant of Covid strain, the Delta Covid variant in India has been linked as the cause of the devastation of the second wave of Covid with its higher rate of transmission and increased severity of the illness.

Now we have an additional variant which is a sub-lineage of the Delta Variant, called the Delta PlusVariant. So, in Delta PlusVariant in addition to the other mutations, there is an additional mutation in the virus which is called the K417 mutation.

So, because of this additional mutation, it is slightly different from the parent Delta Variant. That’s why it is called the Delta PlusVariant. It is also called the B1617.2.1 or B1617.2AY1. As New Variant of Covid in India progresses, despite increasing vaccination rates, there are still several potential 3rd wave new variant of Covid in India.

The symptoms are no different than the Delta variant or as such Covid infection; the patient may experience fever, cough, cold, headache, breathlessness, sometimes muscle ache. If it increases further, the patient may require respiratory support also. Sometimes the headache can go on to become a little extended sensory.

Other symptoms include loss of appetite, stomach aches, hearing loss, joint pains, nausea, and vomiting.

Overall, the Delta variant and Delta PlusCovidvariant are highly dangerous and any potential Delta COVID variant symptoms need to be closely monitored. The Pfizer–BioNTech and Oxford–AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines are effective against the highly infectious Delta variant of SARS-CoV-2 — but their protection drops away over time, a study of infections in the United Kingdom has concluded.
