For the first time since March, India has reported less than 20,000 cases on Monday. This is the lowest number in the past 200 days. The death toll also fell down to 178, it being the lowest since 22nd March.

Kerala remained the highest contributor. It reported 11699 infections, the lowest since five weeks. A usual dip in infections is seen on most of the Mondays due to staff shortages and lower testing over the weekend.  Kerala had seen a massive rise in cases after Onam, 22nd august. Kerala still accounts for 55 percent of the total cases in India.

The active cases comprised 0.89 percent of the total infections .While the recovery rate stood at 97.98 percent. A steady slowdown has even brought active cases below 3 lakhs mark for the first time in the last six months.

The cases saw a decline in almost all the States and Union territories across India.

With the upcoming festive season the downward trend should continue.

Meanwhile India has administered more than 82 crore vaccines .
