The United States Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released the revised guidelines over isolation. According to new guidelines, people who are asymptomatic should isolate themselves for 5 days unlike the previous recommendation of 10 days.
The asymptomatic people would have to wear mask for additional 5 days after the isolation period is over to safeguard the health of those around.
This is based on the evidence that the virus is most infective for two to three days after the symptoms develop. The decision has also been taken in the wake of rising Omicron infections in United States. Although, it’s a milder infection, the higher number of people getting infections may burden the health systems.
Last week the health agency had loosened the restrictions on health workers. It said that health workers could go back after 7 days of infection, if they test negative.
