Britain’s Department of Health on Saturday announced a one-month reduction in booking times for doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, allowing people 50 years of age and older can take time to receive a booster dose five months after their second dose. The National Health Service’s (NHS) national booking system will allow people to book their booster doses a month before they are eligible, starting Monday. From next week onwards, those who are vaccinated will be able to book their dose after five months, which means one can book a vaccine dose only a few months later instead of waiting for days or weeks for a convenient time, expected to benefit lakhs of eligible people. UK health minister Sajid Javid said that the Covid-19 vaccine is the best way to protect yourself and your family before the challenging winter and this change in the booking system will make it as easy as possible for people to book their booster doses.
Top-up vaccines in England :-
More than 9 million people in England have already received their ‘top-up’ vaccines, aimed at expanding protection from their first two doses in the winter months. The latest changes in the booking system will further accelerate the campaign for people to administer booster doses.
