While we have been battling Covid pandemic since March 2020 and it has taken a toll on everyone’s life. This year the India is facing a rise in Dengue cases. The number of cases in Delhi has crossed 2700. At least 9 people have died in the capital due to the disease. This number is higher than the cases reported since a past few years.
A team of experts has been sent by Union health Ministry to nine states and union territories that have been reporting a rise in dengue cases to aid some support in management of the disease. Union health Minister Mansukh Mandviya had directed the ministry to help the states and union territories that have been reporting high number of cases over the past few weeks.
Dengue is a deadly mosquito born disease. The signs and symptoms of the disease are:
- High grade fever
- Vomiting
- Nausea
- Muscle and joint pain
- Rashes
- Swollen glands
In some cases dengue can get fatal and may patients can develop very low platelet count, severe bleeding or organ impairment.
This is a season for the breeding of the mosquitoes. Dengue is usually common in tropical regions. In India, it reaches peak post monsoon.
Prevention is always better than cure. So, it’s better to take some precautions to prevent the spread of the deadly disease.
- Maintain clean surroundings
- Do not let water accumulate and avoid stagnation of water.
- Cover yourself properly when you go out
- Use mosquito repellent
- If you have any symptoms, report to your doctor immediately
