A Covid pill and two more vaccines approved by Indian Government

In a bid to fight the Covid scare, emergency authorisation has been given to two more vaccines, Corbevax and Corovax. The drug that has gotten emergency authorisation is Molnupiravir.

Covovax has been manufactured by the Serum Institute of India. The license for this has been given by the U.S biotechnology company Novavox. This vaccine has been approved by WHO under Emergency Use.

Corbevax: This is the first RBD protein subunit vaccine that would be made in India. This would be manufactured by Hyderabad based firm Biological –E.

Molnupiravir pill is an antiviral drug. This would be manufactured by 13 companies in India. This would be given for treatment of the disease in high risk patients. Cipla plans to launch this drug under the name of Cipmolnu.

India reported 9195 Covid cases in 24 hours. There is a massive rise in infections. The Omicron tally has reached 717 now. Maharashtra reported a 75 day high with 2172 new Covid infections on Tuesday .
