In the wake of rising Covid cases, the district administration of Srinagar has imposed a strict curfew for 10 days in 5 areas of the city. These five areas are Hyderpora, Chanapora, Lal Bazaar and two different zones of Bemina . The curfew will be in effect from 9th November 12.00a.m. It was seen that 63% of the daily cases have been reported from these five areas.
Here is a list of permissible and non permissible activities:
- The essential service would be allowed in these areas.
- Standalone grocery shops , vegetable, meat shops may open from 7.00 AM – 11 AM only
- No restriction on the movement of the government officials on the production of the ID cards.
- All shopping complexes, bazaars, salons, barbershops, restaurants and educational institutes shall remain closed till further notice.
Although the cases have been low in the union territory, it has seen a steady rise in Covid cases in the past two weeks. The maximum number of cases has been reported from Srinagar. The doctors are anticipating that winters could bring a rise in the number of Covid cases. Hence, strict measures could help to contain the disease. Srinagar has highest number of active case, 587 followed by Baramulla and Budgam.
The total number of vaccine doses administered in The UT are 1.525 crore. As of November 8th 2021, 45 % of the population of the UT had been vaccinated and 55% still remains unvaccinated. This means that a large amount of people could still spread the disease.
