Diabetes is a condition that affects a large amount of population. People who have diabetes have a lot of food restrictions. Often diabetics have issues deciding what to eat and what not to. While fruits are a healthy food, the sugar content in them can harm the diabetic patients.

There are some fruits which have a low Glycemic index and can be eaten by diabetic patients

Apples

They loaded with fibre and rich nutrients. This fruit might actually keep your doctor away.

Do not peel the apple since the skin does contain some antioxidants.

Berries

Blueberries, strawberries and other berries are packed with fibre and antioxidants and are super food for diabetic patients .One cup of blueberries had just 20gms of carbohydrates.

Peaches

One peach contains 15gms of carbohydrates and 60 calories.  You can try peach smoothies or mix them in yoghurt.

Apricots

Rich source of Vitamin A and fibre. Apricots are a great fruit for diabetics. An apricot has nearly 18gm of calories and 4gm of carbohydrates.

Citrus fruits

They are a rich source of Vitamin C. It does help in normalising the blood pressure. An orange would have approximately 15gm of carbohydrates.

 Kiwi

The fruit is rich in Potassium, Vitamin C and fiber. It has approximately 10 gms of carbohydrates .

Pears

This is a rich source of fibre. This fruits is extremely good for the diabetic patients.
