The first incident of Havana syndrome was reported in 2016 by officials at the US Embassy in Cuba. Then embassy diplomats and their families complained of nose bleeds, migraines and nausea, along with hearing very sharp prickling noises at night. But even after 5 years of that incident, America has not been able to find out its real reason. However, since then US officials have faced similar troubles in many countries and even within the US. It has been feared that Russia or any other country tries to target Americans using sonic or any other high-intensity electronic means. However, Russia has been denying every finger pointing towards its intelligence agencies.

👉Symptoms of Havana syndrome :-

Symptoms that are reported in people who have become ill include problems such as –

▪️migraine,
▪️nausea,
▪️ loss of memory and dizziness.
▪️ Many times people suffering from this have to hear very loud pricking sounds and feel unusual pressure on the face.
▪️ In more severe cases, problems like severe pain, bleeding from the nose have also been seen.

So far, about 200 US officials and their family members have become ill due to Havana syndrome. The US uses the term ‘unusual health event’ for this syndrome when it comes to the report. Some Americans stationed in China, Austria, Russia and Germany have been hit by this mysterious disease.

Havana syndrome mystery in India too:-

According to the American report, Havana Syndrome has knocked down to India while chasing American officers. It has been claimed by US agencies that an attempt was made to target a US intelligence agency CIA officer who had recently visited India with Havana Syndrome in India.
It is known that, it is said to be such a mysterious disease, that till now only American officials and diplomats or their families are caught. The needle of suspicion has been raised on many sides about this, but so far nothing concrete has been said about its reasons.

Recent incident :-

A US intelligence agency CIA officer who visited India this month experienced symptoms of Havana syndrome. The CIA officer had accompanied the agency’s director William Burns on a trip to India and his aide showed signs of Havana syndrome, CNN and The New York Times has reported this on Monday (20/09/2021). CNN, citing unnamed sources, said the identity of the victim, who had to undergone treatment after developing symptoms, was not disclosed. A CIA spokesman said in a statement to Reuters that the agency does not comment on specific health incidents or officials. According to the spokesperson, ‘We have a protocol in place, whenever a person reports a possible abnormal health condition, there is also a system to get appropriate treatment in it.’

Political impact of this syndrome :-

At the end of last month, the visit of US Vice President Kamala Harris to Vietnam was also disrupted due to Havana syndrome. Harris’s scheduled arrival in Hanoi was deliberately delayed and she was 3 hours late when the US embassy there informed someone about health problems associated with Havana syndrome.
