Endometriosis: It’s a chronic condition wherein the cells of the uterine lining start growing outside the uterus. This is a very common condition and affects nearly 10 percent of the women all over the world during their reproductive years.

Signs and symptoms of endometriosis:

  • Pelvic pain
  • Heavy bleeding during periods
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Major pain episodes during periods
  • Fatigue
  • Constipation or diarrhoea
  • Lower back pain

While this is a chronic condition and has no definite treatment. Your doctors can keep you on medication and control the symptoms of the disease. Studies have shown that a change in lifestyle and food habits can help you control endometriosis to some extent.

Foods that help you control endometriosis:

Fibre rich food: Fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables.

  • Iron rich food: Like spinach, broccoli, beans, peas, seafood.
  • Food rich in antioxidants: Like tomatoes, beetroots, spinach, berries, pumpkins, lean meats etc.
  • Essential fatty acids: Such as fish and other sea foods, walnuts, flax seeds, chia seeds, salmon etc.
  • Other food items: Avocadoes, nuts, olives are helpful too.

Caffeine

Alcohol

Red meat

Trans fats: Mostly available in fried foods

Gluten

It hasn’t been proven yet but cutting down dairy can also help in the long run
