With the advent of the modern era, our life has become easier but our problems have increased. Sleep disorder is the most common one. Lack of sleep starts affecting our health on a daily basis. How can you overcome this?

  • De-stress yourself: The most common cause of not being able to sleep is over thinking. We often take all our stress and anxiety to bed and then the thought process creates a cycle that disturbs sleep. A healthy workout like a walk, yoga would aid in better sleep.

Try meditation before going to bed each night.

  • Avoid or limit daytime naps: It’s better to limit your daytime nap. It should be done before the lunch hours and it should be a short power nap.  This would help you relax well during the night and have a deep sleep.
  • Leave your gadgets: Our mobile phone has been a deterrent in our peaceful sleep. Social media is full of negative news and often going through all the negativity before bed causes a lot of tension. Keep your phone aside half an hour before you sleep.
  • Fix up a bedtime routine: It’s very important to set up a bedtime routine. It would be difficult to follow initially but once you follow it with strict discipline things would fall back in place. Set up an alarm to start your bedtime routine.
  • Avoid caffeine: Whenever you have any sleep disorders, the caffeine intake should be restricted in the afternoon. Take your caffeine before afternoons and avoid them completely in the evenings. You can switch to chamomile or jasmine tea for better health benefits.
  • Modifications in dinner habits: It’s always better to have an early dinner. The dinner should be light and healthy. Avoid excessive water intake after 7pm.
