In monsoon, it is common for children to get cough and cold, but since the time going on is very crucial and as we know covid-19 is presently active in that case if the child gets a little cough or running nose, then the parents start getting scared. To prevent these things let us know the preventive measures.

1) Don’t pressurise the pediatrician :-

Do not pressure the pediatrician to prescribe antibiotics whenever your child has a cold or flu. Antibiotics are used to treat diseases caused by bacteria, while most childhood diseases are caused by viruses. Children who take more antibiotics are more vulnerable to bacterial infections. Generally these problems go away in two to three days. If the discomfort is severe, consult a pediatrician. Yes, better take care of hygiene and get a flu shot.

2) Keep child’s immunity strong :-

Mother definitely should use ginger, garlic and turmeric in the food of her children. The child should be given a bowl of lentils, eggs, chicken or fish in the form of protein, roti or rice as carbohydrates, a fruit and seasonal vegetables, along with this, if you want, give the child a nutrition bar before or after playing which can be containing not more than 20 percent sugar.

3) Include fruits in diet :-

Along with this, include fruits like carrots, beans, oranges, strawberries, kiwi in the diet of children and vegetables. The carotenoids found in these contain phytonutrients that increases immunity. Due to these phytonutrients the number of white blood cells fighting infection increases in the body, which is helpful in strengthening immunity.

4) 10 hours of deep sleep is necessary for children:-

It is believed that children’s sleep is directly related to their immunity. A newborn baby should sleep for 16 hours, an infant up to 1-2 years old should sleep for 11-14 hours and a pre-school going child should sleep for 10-13 hours a day. If the baby does not sleep during the day, put him to sleep early at night.
