Crawdads Sing
  • After a lengthy period of anticipation, the trailer for Sony’s forthcoming film Where The Crawdads Sing has been released. The premise of the film is based on the best-selling 2018 book of the same name by Delia Owens, which will be released on July 24 in theatres globally. But hold on a minute! There’s more to it than that. In addition to an original song by none other than Taylor Swift, the hot off the press first look contains a cameo appearance from Reese Witherspoon and her Hello Sunshine productions, as well as 3000 Pictures, bringing the film’s star power to even another level.
  • Where the Crawdads Sing was written and directed by Lucy Alibar, with Olivia Newman as the star. Between 1952 and 1969, the film is set in the deep, wooded marshes of North Carolina, and it chronicles the lives and times of a young lady called Kya (Daisy Edgar-Jones), whose life is turned upside down when she is labelled the number one suspect in the death of her former love interest. Taylor John Smith, Harris Dickinson, Michael Hyatt, Sterling Macer Jr., and David Strathairn are among the actors that will appear with Edgar-Jones in the film.
  • The trailer, which begins with a courtroom scene in the imaginary hamlet of Barkley Cove, tells the dark and interesting storey of “the marsh girl,” who appears in the film. The audience is taken on a journey through Kya’s early childhood, a period when she was content with her mother before she is abandoned. Kya is left to fend for herself, relying on her sales of mussels to keep her afloat while her parents are away. Kya is becoming quieter and more reticent as she approaches her adolescence, yet her mystery attracts the interest of two adolescent boys. When one of those young guys is found dead at the foot of a fire tower, we witness Kya being pursued by the police and eventually imprisoned. As she faces overwhelming obstacles and a community that is sceptical of her claims of innocence, Kya will need to draw on her inner strength in order to live.
  • It seems that lovers of the book will not be disappointed if the trailer is any indication of what to expect. It seems like the film will adhere closely to the original tale and will have the same twists and turns that made the book such a success in the first place, according to the trailer. Edgar-Jones, a BAFTA and Golden Globe Award-nominated actress, will undoubtedly turn heads as the ostracised girl from the marshlands. As a result of Alibar’s screenplay and Newman’s cinematography, Where The Crawdads Sing is sure to have viewers on the edge of their seats when it opens in cinemas on July 22.
