What is Proning?

The process of taking deep breaths while lying in reverse is called ‘prone’ or in other words oxygen level correcting technique is prone. This helps to overcome the lack of oxygen in the body. This is especially beneficial for those covid patients who are in isolation and who are having trouble breathing. Actually, in this process, blood circulation in the lungs starts happening well.
During the second wave of Corona virus in our country, a large number of covid patients are in need of oxygen, as this virus directly attacks the lungs. In such case of light and mild symptoms if the covid infected has trouble breathing, then they can get a lot of help from the proning.

There are 4 different positions adviced for Self-Proning and for this we need 4-5 pillows. The 4 positions are:-

◾First position – Place a pillow under the neck, then keep one or two pillows under the chest and abdomen equally and keep two pillows under the toes and lie down.

◾Second position – Taking the right side, turn the right side, keep the hand under the head in such a way that it works as a pillow. Keep your feet on top of each other.

◾Third position – Turn to the left side, keep the hand under the head in such a way that it works like a pillow. Keep both the legs together and keep one on top of the other.
◾Fourth position – Body bending: 60 degrees to 90 degrees. Person should sit directly on the angle of degree.Keep both the legs together.

Note: In these situations, lying for 30 minutes to 2 hours gives a lot of benefit to the patient. Do adapt this process at least one hour after having meal.

On the other hand, if you are pregnant, having a serious heart disease or any spinal problem or fracture in the body, then do not adopt this process.
