NITI Aayog rates Kerala as the best state oh health parameters

NITI Aayog , Union Health Ministry and World Bank recently released the fourth edition of the

The Healthy states, Progressive India” between 2019-2020 .

19 large states, 8 small states and 7 union territories were the part of the survey. West Bengal and Ladakh were not included due to inadequate data.

The observations made among large states were:

  • For the fourth time consecutively, Kerala tops the charts as the best performing state as far as health sector is concerned.
  • Telangana and Tamil Nadu secured the second position.
  • Uttar Pradesh was ranked the lowest, but it has seen improvements in 33 major health indicators.
  • Assam was also placed at the bottom but showed significant improvement in health care as well.
  • Rajasthan showed weak performance in both incremental ad overall performance.

In the smaller states:

  • Mizoram secured the top position in overall and incremental performance.
  • Nagaland was at the bottom.
  • Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh fared badly in both overall and incremental performance.

 

States and UTs:

  • Chandigarh was at the top.
  • Dadra and Nagar Haveli were at number 2
  • Jammu and Kashmir ranked last in overall performance but lead in terms of incremental performance. Delhi performed the same.
