Various states impose restrictions in the wake of omicron scare

Omicron cases are rising across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a high level meeting on Thursday and asked to states to be prepared for the situation. India’s Omicron tally has reached 358.

Meanwhile various states are taking different measures to control the situation.

Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh have imposed night curfews. Section 144 has been imposed in Gautma Budhh Nagar till 31st December.
Odisha has also imposed night curfew from 10pm -5am

Maharashtra and Delhi have been witnessing maximum Omicron cases. Maharashtra has laid fresh guidelines on functions allowing 50% in open spaces and 25% in closed spaces. The guidelines also have mentioned of a mandatory permission to hold an event of more than 200 people.

Delhi Government has also instructed the venues to operate on 50% of the seating capacity. No restrictions however have been put on the festive season celebrations as of now.

Gujarat has also imposed night curfew from 1am -5am in the morning.

Karnataka has also been witnessing a surge in omicron cases.  The government has allowed the New Year celebration in a restricted manner. 50% seating capacity would be allowed in restaurants and clubs. The entry is to be given to only vaccinated people.

Tamil Nadu has imposed restrictions on New Year celebrations on the beach.
