Delhi and the NCR regions witness hazardous air quality since the past few days. This time of the year, the capital witnessed massive surge in the pollution due to stubble burning in the adjoining states. Due to change in the direction of the winds since last week, 25-30% more pollutants is travelling towards the capital. On Sunday there has been an improvement in the air quality index. It went down to 330 from 437 on Saturday.
The apex court suggested a lockdown in Delhi after the increasing pollution. However the government is not enforcing any lockdown right now and still thinking about implementing other measures. These include:
- Switching to work from home mode for 100% of the workforce from Monday. Private offices shall be issued an advisory to follow work from home for its employees.
- No construction activities till 17th
- All the schools in Delhi to remain shut for a week from 15th
- Schools in Fardiabad, Gurugram, Jhajjar and Sonipat would also remain closed till 17th
- Tankers would be sprinkling water to settle the pollutants.
- Bio decomposer for stubble decomposition would also be sprayed by 20th
- Air quality management has advised the adjoining states of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh to implement restrictions to protect people from the harmful effects of the pollution.
