Fire in Bhopal hospital, four newborns die

Four newborns died when a fire broke out in the neonatal ward of the Kamla Nehru Children Hospital in Bhopal on Monday night. The fire broke out at 9PM. The suspected cause of the fire has been a short circuit. A visual showed that parents rushed to save their children. It was a heart wrenching moment. There were 40 children in the ward and 36 were safe.

The fire had started on the third floor which has the Intensive Care unit. The fire tenders arrived within 15minutes and git the fire under control. The state government has announced a compensation of 4lakhs to the families of the deceased.

The high level probe into the matter showed that the hospital did not have a mandatory fire clearance. It’s mandatory for the hospital to have no objection certificate or NOC of the fire department .the hospital was served notice for the same.

Various attendants of the infants had mentioned that they tried to extinguish the fire but the safety equipment at the hospital was not working.

Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan has ordered an enquiry and asked for fire inspection to be carried out in all the government and private hospitals.
