Fire breaks out at Covid ward in Ahmednagar Hospital causing the death of 10 patients

In an unfortunate incident, a major fire broke out in the ICU ward of the Ahmednagar District Hospital in Maharashtra around 11a.m today. Ten patients died, one has been seriously injured. The fire broke out in Covid ward.  The ICU had been newly built to treat the Covid patients.

A total of 17 patients were present in the ward.
The district collector of Ahmednagar , Rajendra Bhonsale confirmed the death of 10 patients

There are two wings of ICU in the hospital on ground and first floor respectively. The fire broke out on the ground floor where all the Covid patients were admitted. The reason speculated behind the fire breakout is short circuit. The fire has been controlled after five tenders were rushed to the hospital.

Meanwhile BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis extended his deepest condolences and demanded an in depth enquiry into the matter.
