China’s COVID-19 is developing rapidly and is a serious concern. The outbreak has hit 14 of China’s provinces and a number of people have been tested in the last week. The spokesperson for the National health commission said that the situation is “serious and complex”.
China has reported 72 new cases of COVID -19 in the last 24 hours. This is a 70 % jump from the earlier number. This is nothing in comparison to the daily Covid cases in other countries, but China has maintained zero tolerance policy towards the pandemic. This outbreak is centred in the northeast region of the country. Beijing would not take any chance with the virus and try to contain the spread because this could jeopardise the Winter Olympics 2022.( China is hosting the winter Olympics )
China has increased vigilance across the borders to curb the virus. The outbreak has exposed the laxity of mind among some local authorities” Wu Liangyou, a NHC official quoted.
China has fully vaccinated about 75.7% of the 1.4 billion populations and is also giving booster dose to eligible adult population. China is also aiming to complete the vaccination of children in the age group of 3-11 years by the end of December.
