In a fresh move, UK government announced that fully vaccinated travellers from India do not need to quarantine themselves .The government announced changes on its website on 7th October. The new travelling rules would be enforced from 11th October.
According to the new travel rules:
- Fully vaccinated Indians do not have to quarantine themselves.
- Those arriving after 11th October have to show their vaccine certificate.
- The person should be fully vaccinated 14 days prior to travel in UK.
- The list of vaccines that would be accepted is Astra Zeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Janssen.
- In case the person is not fully vaccinated with any of the above vaccine programs, then the person must take a COVID test prior to his departure , on or before day 2 and on or before day 8 and must self isolate for 10 days
Earlier Britain had imposed strict 10 days quarantine for those arriving from India and several other nations. The country had faced severe backlash with the move. This move was even called racist and discriminatory.
Soon after Indian government announced that it would make quarantine mandatory for British travellers coming to India, UK government had agreed to change the rules for Indian travellers.
